McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has confirmed that he would be extremely interested in bringing Jimmie Johnson on board to the Arrow McLaren SP NTT IndyCar Series team after seven time Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series champion Johnson confirmed that the 2020 season will be his last full-time season in the sport.

Johnson has had experience in an open wheel car having tested a McLaren F1 car in Bahrain as part of a driver swap with Fernando Alonso.

Johnson has confirmed that he does not want to run oval events and that competing in the NTT IndyCar Series in 2020 will not happen but it it is very likely that the Aamerican will compete for Arrow McLaren SP given that he has raced with Chevrolet for his entire career and he also has links to McLaren Racing.

The 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season will be a year of transition for Arrow McLaren SP given that they have two new drivers and a new engine supplier in Chevrolet.
