McLaren Racing have sold a minority stake in the company to MSP Sports Capital, a US based investment firm who under the new deal will invest £185 million in the Woking based outfit over the next two years taking a 15% stake in the team which according to Sky News will increase to 33% by the end of 2022.
It is believed that the new deal will be announced at a press conference called by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown on Sunday morning ahead of the 2020 Formula One season ending Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
As part of the new deal, Jahm Najafi has been appointed to the role of Vice Chairman of McLaren Racing, Paddock Eye understands that McLaren will confirm on Sunday that Zak Brown has signed a new contract with the company. McLaren Racing not only has the Formula One team but also the Arrow McLaren SP team competing in the NTT IndyCar Series.
McLaren Racing go into the final race of the season on Sunday in Abu Dhabi in fourth place in the championship just ten points behind the BWT Racing Point Formula One Team with Lando Norris starting the race in fourth place while in his last race for the team before moving to Ferrari, Carlos Sainz starts the race from sixth place.
