McLaren look set to make their IndyCar debut as a full-time entrant in 2019 according to the IndyCar Radio Network who have echoed the rumors about Scott Dixon being touted by McLaren in what would be a shock move away from Chip Ganassi Racing.
Paddock Eye understands that McLaren are looking at Dixon as an alternative to Fernando Alonso if the Spaniard decides he wants to remain in Formula One or move to the World Endurance Championship as he is currently part of the Toyota stable having just won the LeMans 24 Hours.
Alonso says that his next priority is to win the Indianapolis 500. The rumors about Dixon however appear to be gathering momentum however it remains to be seen what the New Zealander will do next season.
Alonso could come to IndyCar full-time which would allow him to send a a number of years in the series competing at the Indianapolis 500.
There has been no official word from McLaren regarding IndyCar but it would appear to be an open secret that the team will be in the series full time next season.
