McLaren CEO Zak Brown has confirmed that the company’s entry into the Verizon IndyCar Series will be a long term commitment to the series and not just a one off return.
Speaking to the IndyStar, Brown said that McLaren have no set date on when they will make a decision on whether to enter IndyCar in 2019 or wait until 2020. Brown has confirmed that the company will be entering the series and it is not a case of if but rather a case of when.
Brown also revealed that the deadline set by Michael Andretti is his own deadline and that McLaren have other options in relation to linking up with another team for their IndyCar programme with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing looking a very likely partner for the team.
Brown confirmed that a decision on when they will enter the Verizon IndyCar Series will be made very soon.
