Arrow McLaren SP would benefit from bringing Fernando Alonso back to the NTT IndyCar Series for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24.
The Spaniard had been in talks with Andretti Autosport to reunite with the team for whom he made an impressive Indy 500 debut for in 2017 however an agreement could not be reached.
Andretti Autosport Chairman and CEO Michael Andretti said this week that after the deal with Alonso failed to materialize for May the Spaniard decided to seek a drive elsewhere.
During NTT IndyCar Series Spring Training at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas earlier this month Arrow McLaren SP’s new driver line up of Oliver Askew and Patricio O’Ward were extremely quick and hit the ground running.
The 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 24 is the first of five oval races in the calendar for 2020 and for Askew.
