Scott McLaughlin, in the No.3 Odyssey Battery Team Penske Chevrolet, took the pole for the opening Hy Vee 250 at the Milwaukee Mile today. For race 2, he starts from the front row alongside pole-sitter Josef Newgarden, who starts race 1 from 10th place.
Newgarden’s penalty for race 1 promotes Meyer Shank Racing’s David Malukas to the front row as he will start the race from second place. Alexander Rossi starts the race from third just ahead of Linus Lundqvist who will role off from fourth. Will Power was aiming to start the races ahead of his main title rival Alex Palou which he will as he starts race 1 from fifth place while in race 2 he starts fourth. Power heads into the race later today with a 54 point deficit to Alex Palou.
Marcus Armstrong had a solid qualifying session in the No.11 Root Insurance Honda. He qualified seventh and starts the race from 16th. Pato O’Ward starts the race from seventh just ahead of Marcus Ericsson and Felix Rosenqvist. Romain Grosjean starts ninth just ahead of Josef Newgarden.
Colton Herta starts the race from 12th place, just ahead of championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda, while Rinus VeeKay starts the race from 14th place, just ahead of Jack Harvey and Kyle Kirkwood. Christian Rasmussen starts the race from 25th place, having been handed a nine-place grid penalty, as does Conor Daly, who starts the race from 26th place.
Scott Dixon starts his 400th INDYCAR SERIES race from 18th despite qualifying in 20th and starts race 2 from 20th place. Katherine Legge starts the race from 19th place while Santino Ferrucci starts the race from 20th place. Sting Ray Robb starts the race from 21st place just ahead of Graham Rahal and Kyffin Simpson while Christian Lundgaard and Pietro Fittipaldi round out the order.
