Team Penske’s NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver Scott McLaughlin who was competing in the 12 Hours of Sebring IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship event with Tower Motorsports this weekend, had a fantastic result as not only did he come through the chaos at the end of the race, he took the class win in the LMP2 class in the No.8 Tower Motorsports ORECA 07.
Speaking following the race, McLaughlin, who is a three-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES race winner commented saying:
“It’s not just me, it’s the bounce-back from the whole team. “Daytona was a tough one, as we all know, but Kyffin drove well today, as well as John. They really put us on the right path.”
McLaughlin’s team-mate Kyfffin Simpson tweeted following the race saying:
“Pushed a little too hard there and got crossed up at T1. “Thankfully the damage was just cosmetic and the team did an incredible job fixing the car up. We literally lost a few seconds and 1 place. Insane.”
Speaking in victory lane following the race, McLaughlin commented saying:
“Our guys got the car back together after our little guy’s misdemeanor. “We’ll let him off the hook now.”
McLaughlin, who finished the race in third place overall, concluded by saying:
“I’m really proud of everyone on the team. “The strategy at the end was just incredible. Glad I could hold them off for them.”
Next up for Scott McLaughlin is the PPG 375 at Texas Motor SPeedway on April 2, round c2 of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
