Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 XPEL Team Penske Chevrolet is an oval race winner after dominating the opening race of the Iowa double-header on Saturday night.
Pato O’Ward was second pole Josef Newgarden rallied from 22nd to finish the race on the podium in third giving Chevrolet a podium sweep.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon maintained fourth in the championship as the highest placed Honda in the race coming home fourth.
Rinus VeeKay was fifth while Santino Ferrucci had a spectacular day fight back from a penalty to finish the race in sixth place.
Kyle Kirkwood wad seventh just ahead of Alexander Rossi and Marcus Ericsson while Marcus Armstrong rounded out the top ten.
Colton Herta who started from the poke was 11th just ahead of Nolan Siegel and Felix Rosenqvist while Kyffin Simpson made up 13 spots from 27th to finish 14th just ahead of Sting Ray Robb while Graham Rahal who had a tire rim failure was 16th ahead of Katherine Legge.
Will Power was last of the runners in 18th for Penske.
Pietro Fittipaldi retired as did Ed Carpenter, Linus Lundqvist, Christian Lundgaard, Christian Rasmussen, Alex Palou who suffered a gear issue and Jack Harvey.
David Malukas and Agustin Canapino also retired from the race.
In some breaking news, Conor Daly will drive for Dale Coyne Racing on Sunday in place of the injured Jack Harvey who withdraw on medical grounds.
