Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 XPEL Team Penske Chevrolet was the pacesetter in the only practice ahead of qualifying for this weekend’s double-header INDYCAR weekend at Iowa Speedway. The New Zealander set a fastest speed of 185.891MPH ending the day just ahead of championship leader Alex Palou while Pato O’Ward was third fastest.
David Malukas had a great day for Meyer Shank Racing in fourth place with a speed of 184.112MPH just ahead of Alexander Rossi while Scott Dixon who had a moment on pit-road with Agustin Canapino was sixth fastest in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda having set a fastest speed of 183.620MPH while Canapino was seventh for Juncos Hollinger Racing.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Linus Lundqvist was eighth in the No.8 Be The One American Legion Chip Ganassi Racing Honda. Colton Herta was ninth while Team Penske’s Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Business Chevrolet rounded out the top ten.
Graham Rahal was 11th just ahead of Felix Rosenqvist and Santino Ferruci who was fastest for a time in the session in the No.14 Sexton Properties AJ Foyt Racing Chevrolet.
Ed Carpenter Racing’s Rinus VeeKay was 14th just ahead of Josef Newgarden and Nolan Siegel. Pietro Fittipaldi was 17th for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing while Kyle Kirkwood and Christian Lundgaard were 18th and 19th while Romain Grosjean rounded out the top twenty. Marcus Ericsson was 21st having hit the wall hard while Jack Harvey was 22nd just ahead of Marcus Armstrong and the returning Katherine Legge.
Sting Ray Robb was 25th just ahead of Kyffin Simpson while Ed Carpenter rounded out the order in 27th place.
