Members of the British media have criticized reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton for using his phone during Thursday’s FIA press conference in Japan.

The three time world champion was accused of being disrespectful after he took out his phone and started using snap chat. When asked by one journalist what was he doing, Hamilton replied:

Huh? Yeah, no…it’s quite funny, just some snaps of us drivers. Hey man, we’ve been doing this for a long, long time, and it’s the same each time, so we’ve got to keep adding new things to it.

Hamilton believes that the format of the press conference needs to be changed and that he feels that fans should ask the questions.

Kevin Eason from The Times commented via Twitter by saying:

Think the world champion could have ditched the phone and concentrated a little harder for the benefit of the huge Japanese audience.
