Former INDYCAR SERIES team owner Michael Andretti will attend Sunday’s 109th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, his son, Marco, confirmed during Thursday’s Indianapolis 500 media day.
Andretti announced last September that he was stepping away from ownership of Andretti Global, with Dan Towriss and his TWG Motorsports Group taking control of Andretti Global’s racing teams.
Marco Andretti will make his 20th Indianapolis 500 start on Sunday from 29th on the grid. Speaking following Carb Day, Andretti said:
We’re good, same as Monday. It’s just slow, but we’re doing our part. The MAPEI / CURB Honda feels good. If the track position materializes, I think we can keep it. It’s just speed we’re lacking, but we’ll be ready to go on Sunday.
