Defending MotoGP champion Joan Mir of Team Suzuki Ecstar has been given a fine and has had his first flying lap of the MotoGP™ Q1 session canceled due to leaving the pitlane when pitlane was closed. FIM said:
According to Article 3.5.5 of the FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations, we confirm our
decision without a hearing, a hearing may be requested within 30 minutes from notification of this
the decision by notifying IRTA or the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel.
On 27 March 2021 during the MotoGP QP1 session of the BARWA GRAND PRIX OF QATAR you
exited the pit lane while the pit lane was closed, with the red lights and a red flag displayed.
This is deemed to be taking an unfair advantage and is an infringement of Article 1.22.2 of the FIM
FIM World Championship Grand Prix Regulations.
For the above reasons, the FIM MotoGP Stewards Panel has imposed a fine of 1,000 €uros and
canceled your first timed flying lap of the first qualifying run of the BARWA GRAND PRIX OF
QATAR QP1 session. (in accordance with articles 3.2.1 and 188.8.131.52)
Right of Hearing and Appeal
A hearing with the FIM MotoGP Stewards may be requested within 30 minutes from notification of
this decision, if no hearing request is made, according to Article 3.4.2 of the FIM World
Championship Grand Prix Regulations, this decision is final with no appeal available.
