The 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season-ending Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca was a success Juncos Hollinger Racing.
The team achieved their target of finishing the season with both cars inside Leaders Circle points following a sensational race at Laguna Seca on Sunday.
Callum Ilott had a fantastic race as he came home in fifth place, equalling his career best finish from the season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg.
Speaking following the action he said:
“It was a crazy race today. We claimed P5 in the first race of the season, and now we have achieved the same in the final round. We’ll take the points, and even though it could have been a bit more, I’m still pleased with the result. Thank you to everyone in the team for their huge efforts this year.”
Agustin Canapino just missed out in winning the Rookie of the Year prize but had an extremely strong first season in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES.
The driver of the No.78 Chevrolet had a great race and came home in 14th.
We’ve had a really strong weekend at Laguna Seca. We did a really good job in qualifying, finishing in P13. Although we started in P19 after the penalty, we were soon battling at the front and I was battling for the lead with [Alex] Palou at the end of the second stint.
“It was unfortunate that my front wing was broken close to the end because we were in a really good position to earn a top-five, maybe a podium. But we showed really strong pace today and I would like to thank everybody in the team for their hard work. I’m really happy that we finished my first season in INDYCAR within the Leaders Circle.”
Juncos Hollinger Racing team co-owner Ricardo Juncos commented saying:
“Now that we have finished the last INDYCAR race of 2023 at Laguna Seca, I’m very happy with the team. I think we finished on a high note with Callum’s P5 result, and it was a great race from him to move forward from the back.
“Agustín was also fighting for a podium throughout the race. We are very happy with his finish within the Leaders Circle.
“It has been a great effort from the whole team this weekend and you can see our improvements in the last four or five races. We are getting better and better, so I’m really looking forward to 2024. I’d also like to say thank you to the fans of Juncos Hollinger Racing for their amazing support this season.”
