Double Indianapolis 500 winner and former full time Team Penske Penske Verizon IndyCar Series driver Juan Pablo Montoya looks set to be selected by the series to test the new 2018 Dallara aero kit for Chevrolet next month.
Montoya was replaced in the No.2 Chevrolet by Josef Newgarden however he retired to the cock-pit of a Team Penske car last month as he drove the No.22 Chevrolet at the IndyCar Grand Prix of Indianapolis and the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil in a fifth Penske entry.
Meanwhile Paddock Eye understands that the series have selected Spain’s Oriol Servia to test the Honda aero-kit. Servia drove for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing in the No.16 Fifth Third Bank Honda in the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil and the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit.
Verizon IndyCar Series president of competition and operations Jay Frye says that the series has yet to confirm their plans for the tests but details of the tests will be made public in the next 10 days or so.
The tests will take place at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway, Mid-Ohio Raceway and Sebring International Raceway.
