Two time Indianapolis 500 winner Juan Pablo Montoya who, earlier this week learnt that he will not race in the 102nd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil next May with Penske says he is open to offers from other teams about driving with them but doubts that ‘The Captain’ would allow it.

It was announced on Wednesday that Helio Castroneves will join Montoya in Penske’s IMSA prototype programme in an Acura.

Montoya won the 2015 Indianapolis 500 with Team Penske having come from the back of the field to win the event. Speaking during a teleconference earlier this week, Roger Penske confirmed that he will only run three cars full-time in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 2018 with Castroneves moving to the sports car programme while the team will run four cars for the month of May with Castroneves running the No.3 Hitachi Chevrolet for the month of May.
