NBC Sport, The NTT IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway have come together during these unprecedented times due to what is going on in the world to give fans the opportunity to relive a wonderful battle between Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Menards Team Penske Chevrolet and Alexander Rossi in the No.27 NAPA Auto Parts Andretti Autosport Honda during the 2019 race.
Today, Friday 22 May should have been Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the last practice before the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge which was due to take place on Sunday however sadly it is not. Despite the fact we are not racing this weekend we will be back in no time with two weeks before the NTT IndyCar Series season gets underway with the Genesys 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.
On Sunday NBC Sport will air a special encore presentation of the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge with interviews from Alexander Rossi and Simon Pagenaud with other special features such as some pre race track action with Pagenaud and Rossi on track at the Speedway in the 2020 spec IndyCar featuring the new aeroscreen.
While we are disappointed the Greatest Spectacle in Racing is not going ahead this 2eekend we can still relive fantastic Indy 500.
The NTT IndyCar Series returns to racing for the first time since 2019 in two weeks time and in July, the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis will take place over the Independence Day weekend on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course which President and CEO of Penske Entertainment Corporation Mark Miles hopes will be the weekend of races with spectators at the track with social distancing measures being observed.
The Indianapolis 500 encore gets underway at 2PM ET on NBC Sport and is also on Sky Sports F1HD in the UK and Ireland.
As we get ready for the Indianapolis 500 encore on Sunday don’t forget that you still have time to nominate your Hoosier Heroes in association with the American Dairy Association of Indiana by visiting https://winnersdrinkmilk.com/ and remember Firestone, the official tire supplier to the NTT IndyCar Series are running the #WhateverYouDriveChallenge via Facebook and Instagram which runs until June 2.
