Hyundai Motorsports Thierry Neuville won special stage two of the opening day of the 2017 World Rally Championship at the Rally Monte Carlo. The Belgian driving the Hyundai I20 WRC ended the stage in a time of 15:01.1 ending the night 7.8s ahead of reigning world champion Sebastien Ogier in the Ford Fiesta Eccoboost WRC for M-Sports.
The opening stage of the rally was cancelled due to an accident which saw a spectator injured and as a result due to the time lost, Toyota’s Juho Hanninen ended the stage on the podium in third place.
Citroen Racing’s Kris Meeke in the C3 WRC was fourth fastest ending the night 15.8s behind Neuville.
Ott Tanak did a great job for M-Sports in the Ford Fiesta Eccoboost WRC as he ended the day in 5th place just ahead of team mate Elfyn Evans. Waterford’s Craig Breen did a fantastic job in old Citroen DS3 WRC as he ended the night in seventh place, 25.4s,
Dani Sordo ended the night in eighth place just ahead of Toyota Gazoo Racing’s Jari Matti Latvala while Andreas Mikkelsen rounded out the top ten.
