Harrison Newey, son of legendary Formula One car designer Adrian Newey is experiencing the Verizon IndyCar Series for the first time this weekend as he attends the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Valvoline at Gateway Motorsports Park.

Newey is at the race this weekend as a guest of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing and team co-owner Bobby Rahal who is a close friend of Adrian Newey.

The younger Newey is racing in Europe and came over to the US to experience IndyCar first hand. Adrian Newey, who is currently Chief Technical Officer with the Red Bull Racing Formula One team worked with Rahal in the Verizon IndyCar Series in 1984 and 85.

Newey’s car driven by Rahal in 1986, won both the Indianapolis 500 and the IndyCar championship both won by Rahal.

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal will start tonight’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Valvoline from 13th place in the No.15 Fifth/Third Bank Honda at Gateway Motorsports Park.
