Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Hum by Verizon Chevrolet was the first driver of the 33 car field to hit the wall at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this week as preparations for the 101st running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil continued on Thursday.

Newgarden hit the wall at Turn 1 with the car spinning across the track and hitting the wall a second time.

Team Penske will be hoping to get Newgarden back on track later today as long as he gets the all clear following the mandatory medical checks at the infield care centre.
