Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden was delighted with his opening day in the No.2 Chevrolet having made the move to the North Carolina based Verizon IndyCar Series outfit last week.
Newgarden said that he loved his opening test with the team. The American joined team mate’s Simon Pagenaud, Will Power and Helio Castroneves for the test at Road America on Monday. Newgarden said that the test gave him the opportunity to see how his team mate’s drive the car.
Speaking about his new team, Newgarden commented by saying:
It’s fantastic to have four sets of data. That’s probably one of the biggest areas where they’re so strong as a group. They have so much information to look at from quality drivers with great feedback.
Newgarden will join some of his rivals at Gateway Motorsports Park on Thursday as the teams conduct a test on behalf of Firestone. Newgarden will be the only Team Penske driver in action at the test.
