Ed Carpenter Racing’s Josef Newgarden in the No.21 Fuzzy’s Ultra Premium Vodka Chevrolet led the way in the final Verizon IndyCar Series race day warm up session of 2016.

Newgarden who starts the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma later today from 10th place set a fastest time of 01:17.6431s ending the session just ahead of defending race winner Scott Dixon in the No.9 Target Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing. Takuma Sato was third fastest in the No.14 ABC Supply Co Honda for AJ Foyt Racing.

Charlie Kimball who starts his 100th Verizon IndyCar Series race today was fourth fastest in the No.83 Tresiba® Chevrolet just ahead of Alexander Rossi in the No.98 Castrol EDGE Curb Honda for Andretti Autosport.

Mikhail Aleshin was sixth fastest for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports just ahead of Tony Kanaan in the No.10 NTT DATA Chevrolet.

Helio Castroneves who starts the race from the front row was eighth fastest in the No.3 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet ending the session just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter Reay in the No.28 DHL Honda while Carlos Munoz rounded out the top ten in the No.26 hhgregg Honda.

Sebastien Bourdais was 11th fastest for KVSH Racing ending warm up just ahead of Marco Andretti in the No.27 Snapple Honda.

Graham Rahal was 13th fastest in the No.15 Steak N’Shake Honda for Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing just ahead of Max Chilton in the No.8 Gallagher Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing.

Juan Pablo Montoya in the No.2 Verizon Chevrolet who is feeling under the weather this weekend was 15th fastest ending the session just ahead of AJ Foyt Racing’s Jack Hawksworth. Schmidt Peterson Motorsport’s James Hinchcliffe in the No.5 Arrrow Honda ended the session in 17th place.

Series points leader Simon Pagenaud in the No.22 Hewlett Packard Enterprises Chevrolet was 18th fastest just ahead of Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot. RC Enerson was 20th for Dale Coyne Racing.

Championship contender Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Chevrolet ended the session in 21st place with Dale Coyne Racing’s Conor Daly in the No.18 Jonathan Byrd’s Hospitality Honda rounding out the order in 22nd place.
