Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden in the No.2 Sonsio Chevrolet was the pace setter in the only practice session ahead of qualifying for tonight’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at World Wide Technology Raceway.

Newgarden ended the session just ahead of his teammate Scott McLaughlin in the No.3 DEX Imaging Chevrolet while Ryan Hunter-Reay rounded out the top three in the No.28 DHL Honda.

Graham Rahal in the No.15 HyVee Honda was fourth just ahead of Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda for Chip Ganassi Racing while Marcus Ericsson was sixth just ahead of Arrow McLaren SP’s Felix Rosenqvist in the No.7 Vuse Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet.

Colton Herta was eighth in the No.26 Gainbridge Honda just ahead of his teammate James Hinchcliffe in the No.29 Genesys Honda while Pato O’Ward rounded out the top ten.

Romain Grosjean in the No.51 Nurtec ODT Honda had a great session as he ended his first official oval race weekend practice in eleventh place just ahead of Alexander Rossi and Takuma Sato.

Simon Pagenaud was 14th just ahead of Ed Jones and Will Power.

Alex Palou in the No.10 American Legion Honda was 17th just ahead of of Conor Daly and Jack Harvey while Tony Kanaan rounded out the top 20.

Sebastien Bourdais was 21st just ahead of Rinus VeeKay and Dalton Kellett. Ed Carpenter rounded out the order in 24th place.
