Verizon IndyCar Series driver Josef Newgarden is at the Watkins Glen circuit in New York this weekend to promote the event.
The Glen returns to the Verizon IndyCar Series following a six year absence. The event takes place over Labor Day weekend, September 1-4. Newgarden has had a fantastic 2016 season despite suffering a broken clavicle and wrist in huge crash at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this summer.
The American who drives for Ed Carpenter Racing will miss the rescheduled Texas event at the end of August however despite his injuries he has not missed a race since the accident and as a result finds himself in 4th place in the Series standings on 364 points.
Newgarden may be missing the Firestone 600 at Texas Motor Speedway however with double points awarded for the final race of the season the GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma he still has plenty of opportunity to win the championship. ‘The Glen’ is one of the most exciting permanent race tracks in the United States and everyone in the Verizon IndyCar Series was delighted when it was confirmed that the venue was replacing the ill-fated Boston Grand Prix.
