Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden, driver of the No.2 Hitachi Chevrolet will mark on a milestone at this weekend’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The Tennessee native who goes into this weekend’s race leading the championship by 14 points from Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward will make his 200th NTT INDYCAR SERIES race start.
The two-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion and defending Indianapolis 500 winner made his INDYCAR SERIES debut with Sarah Fisher Hartman Racing in 2012.
Newgarden claimed his maiden INDYCAR SERIES race win in Alabama in 2015 with Carpemter Fisher Hartman Racing.
Since making his debut, Newgarden has gone on to win two series championships with Team Penske and of course the 2023 Indianapolis 500.
The driver of the No.2 Hitachi Team Penske Chevrolet has 17 pole positions and 30 INDYCAR SERIES race wins to his name.
While Newgarden will make his 200th start this weekend, Chip Ganassi Racing’s six-time NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Scott Dixon will make his 323rd consecutive race start, (the longest in series history).
