Verizon IndyCar Series points leader an defending champion Josef Newgarden will test the aero-screen at the upcoming Verizon IndyCar Series test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway it has been confirmed.
The Tennessee native who has won two races so far this season will get become the second driver to test the device following Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon’s oval test of the device a few months ago.
The IndyCar aero-screen is the series answer to Formula One’s introduction of the ‘Halo’ device which was introduced ahead of the start of the 2018 season.
Dixon who drives the No.9 PNC Bank Honda said that the ‘Halo’ was not feasible to run on ovals and therefore is not suitable for the Verizon IndyCar Series but was happy with how the aero-screen test went.
Speaking at the time of the test, Dixon said that halo was not feasible due to the drivers line of sight on ovals.
It will be interesting to hear what Josef Newgarden has to say about the aero screen.
