Head of Mercedes Benz Motorsport Toto Wolff has slammed the idea that his team are showing favoritism to Nico Rosberg over reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton after various people on social media claimed that after two world champions for Hamilton that the Brackley based outfit have decided that it is time to back Rosberg.
Rosberg has dominated Formula One so far this season winning the first four Grand Prix of the season and heads to the Spanish Grand Prix, the start of the European season leading the championship by 43 points from Lewis Hamilton.
Wolff described the rumors that the team are favoring one driver over another as coming from lunatics.
Wolff confirmed that although Hamilton had problems on Saturday he wasn’t the only one as during the race on Sunday Nico Rosberg had drive problems with his MGU-K and that it nearly ended his Russian Grand Prix.
Speaking to Sky Sports F1’s Ted Kravitz after the race, Mercedes Non-Executive Chairman and triple world champion Niki Lauda described the favoritism tag as ‘B*******’
