McLaren F1 Team’s Lando Norris says he is excited about making his debut in the inaugural NTT IndyCar Series iRacing Challenge at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas for the AutoNation Challenge.
The Englishman forms a four car line up for Arrow McLaren SP in the No.04 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet alongside NTT IndyCar Series drivers Patricio O’Ward in the No.5 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet, Robert Wickens in the No.6 Lucas Oil Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet and Oliver Askew in the No.7 Arrow McLaren SP Chevrolet.
Norris is a keen sim racer and has previous racing experience at the Circuit of the Americas through Formula One with the McLaren F1 Team. Speaking ahead of the race he said:
From my side of it, I’m excited. “I really had some warning messages coming in from Colton’s side. I don’t know if I should read them out or not.
Norris has raced with defending AutoNation Challenge race winner Colton Herta who drives the No.88 Capstone Honda for Andretti Harding Steinbrenner Racing when the pair were team mates in 2015 with Carlin in the British Formula 4 championship. Speaking about their time Racing together Norris said:
It’s been a while since he raced in F4 back in the day. We had some really good times. Yeah, we have a lot of respect for each other. I don’t want to sound like I’m talking like a guy with loads of experience, but looks like he’s matured in quite a way, as I think I have in some ways. It looks like he’s become an even better driver than what he was, and he was freaking fast when I was racing against him. He was nicknamed Hooligan Herta for many reasons.”
