AJ Foyt Racing didn’t have the best start to their opening day to the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series at the Firestone Grand Prix of St Petersburg as in the opening session, Carlos Munoz in the No.14 ABC Supply Co Chevrolet ended the morning in 19th place completing 14 laps, while in the second session, the Colombian completed 17 laps setting the 10th fastest time with a 01:03.1495s.
Speaking following his time in the car, Munoz commented by saying:
We made a lot of progress from Practice 1 to 2 – the ABC Chevy was much more competitive. I think we were in the top 10 the whole session. We need to improve but everyone is very close. We’re not 100 percent happy and I think we can still make changes and improve it. We’ll see how it goes.
Conor Daly in the No.4 ABC Supply Co. Chevrolet ended the opening session on Friday morning in 21st place following an issue with the car, completing just eight laps while in the second session in the afternoon, Daly completed 18 laps with the 20th fastest time and speaking following the day on track he commented by saying:
It wasn’t an ideal first day. We had some issues in the first session. We got running in the second session and we’re still a little bit behind. We tried some things with the red tires. We don’t have the pace we need yet but that’s why we work together and figure out the best set up for the ABC Chevy tomorrow.
