Defending FIA World Rally Champion Sebastien Ogier took the Citroen Total World Rally team’s 100th victory in the 2019 WRC season opening Rally Monte Carlo on Sunday.
Ogier took victory by just 2.2s from Hyundai Motorsport’s Thierry Neuville while Ott Tanak made it three different manufacturers on the podium coming home in third for Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Sebastien Loeb finished the event in fourth place while Jari Matti Latvala and Kris Meeke rounded out the top six for Toyota Gazoo Racing.
Speaking following the rally, Ogier said:
You know it’s the rally I want to win most in the season., that is why I am so happy now. We had this problem with the throttle and it was pushing the car on the brakes so it was tough. I am very happy. Six years in a row with three different cars!
