On March 24, 2013, Andretti Autosport’s James Hinchcliffe in the No.27 GoDaddy Chevrolet started the NTT IndyCar season opening Honda Grand Prix of St Petersburg from fourth place behind pole sitter Will Power, Takuma Sato and Simona De Silvestro.
Will Powercmade a great start to the race taking a 12s lead over the rest of the field however on lap 20, four time Series champion Dario Franchitti hit the wall and forced to retire from the race.
On the restart, Power was overtaken for the lead by Helio Castroneves. James Hinchcliffe made use of a great strategy and on lap 85 the Canadian overtook Castroneves to take the lead of the race and from there the Mayor of HinchTown never looked back and came home to claim his first win in the NTT IndyCar Series.
Helio Castroneves finished the race in second place while Marco Andretti, Hinch’s then team mate at Andretti Autosport finished the race in third place.
Things have come full circle for the Mayor of HinchTown as he has returned to Andretti Autosport for at least three races during the 2020 NTT IndyCar Series season with thanks to primary sponsorship from cloud solutions company Genesys.
