The Verizon IndyCar Series looks set to add at least one extra race to their 2018 calendar with President of Hulman and Company, the Verizon IndyCar Series parent company Mark Miles confirming that they are exploring options in Calgary Canada, Mexico and in Portland Oregon.

Paddock Eye understands that the Desert Diamond West Valley Phoenix Grand Prix at Phoenix International Raceway will run back to back with the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The two events are scheduled to run on April 7 and April 15 respectively. Miles revealed that an additional race would fill the August gap in the schedule.

The Verizon IndyCar Series are in Canada this weekend for the Honda Indy Toronto where series points leader Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon will be hoping to bounce back from a tough weekend in Iowa last time out to strengthen his position at the top of the standings with just six races left in the season.
