Harding Steinbrenner Racing team president Brian Barnhart was delighted with how they performed over the weekend in Portland. Colton Herta in the No.88 Capstone Honda took pole position for the race and scored his second best finish of the season with a fourth place finish and led a career best 37 laps.
Speaking following the race, Barnhart said:
Overall this was a very successful weekend for the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda team. “Colton did an awesome job all weekend long. He won his second pole position of the season on the final lap of the Firestone Fast Six. Really proud and happy for him and the team. The guys also did a great job with quick pit stops and by putting together a great car for Colton. Unfortunately, we had to pit a couple of laps sooner than we were hoping to because of a vibration in the tires from an early lock up. That put us at the back of the top group of guys. We were in position for a very strong finish, a podium for sure and hopefully in contention for the win. But, we are very happy with a fourth-place finish and hope we can do even better at Laguna Seca!
Colton Herta cocommented on his day saying:
The Grand Prix of Portland was an up-and-down day for the #88 Capstone Turbine Honda team. “I had a blast leading 37 laps of the race today, and our pace was really quick. The car was great, and our strategy was there, but our pace on the red tires during the first stint of the race just wasn’t there. I really feel we could have won the race, but overall I’m happy with fourth as it’s our second-best finish of the year. Looking forward to racing a Laguna Seca in a couple of weeks!
