Arrow McLaren’s Pato O’Ward in the No.5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet scored his third win of the season in the opening Milwaukee Mile race on Saturday.
O’Ward came from fifth on the grid to claim his first oval win of the season coming home just ahead of Will Power in the No.12 Verizon Business Team Penske Chevrolet who continues to eat into Alex Palou’s championship lead.
It was a fantastic day for Conor Daly and Juncos Hollinger Racing as the team recovered from a penalty to score their result as a team with a brilliant drive for Daly coming from 25th on the grid to claim his second career podium.
Santino Ferrucci in the No.14 Phoenix Investors Chevrolet for AJ Foyt Racing had another fantastic day as he kept up his run of top ten finishes with a brilliant drive to fourth.
Alex Palou can win the championship on Sunday if he leaves Milwaukee with more than a 53 point advantage over Will Power after Palou finished 5th today.
Linus Lundqvist came home in sixth just ahead of Alexander Rossi and pole sitter Scott McLaughlin.
Christian Lundgaard came home in ninth while Scott Dixon rounded out the top ten for Chip Ganassi Racing.
Christian Rasmussen came home in 11th just ahead of Kyle Kirkwood and Felix Rosenqvist.
Rinus VeeKay was 14th just ahead of David Malukas while Jack Harvey was 16th for Dale Coyne Racing.
Nolan Siegel was 17th just ahead of Pietro Fittipaldi and Katherine Legge. Graham Rahal rounded out the top twenty.
Marcus Armstrong was 21st just ahead of Colton Herta and Sting Ray Robb.
Romain Grosjean was 24th just ahead of Kyffin Simpson while Marcus Ericsson and Josef Newgarden collided and we’re the only retirements from the race.
Josef Newgarden will start Sunday’s Hy-Vee 250 from pole.
