Arrow McLaren driver Pato O’Ward says that at the Indianapolis 500, you need to maximize what you have as an individual and not rely on what your teammates are doing.

Arrow McLaren expanded to a three-car team for the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season with the addition of Alexander Rossi. For the Indianapolis 500 in two weeks, they have added a fourth car for Tony Kanaan.

Speaking following his second place on the IMS road course at the GMR Grand Prix of Indianapolis, O’Ward said that he has had Fernando Alonso and Juan Pablo Montoya as teammates for the 500 and now Tony Kanaan, and he says that it is important go down your own route when it comes to your strategy as everyone a different driving style.

O’Ward goes into the Indianapolis 500 in second place in the championship on 168 points.
