Team Penske completed a dream weekend at the 2017 IMSA season finale in the Petit LeMans at Road Atlanta.
Helio Castroneves who will move to Penske’s new sportscar programme from IndyCar in 2018 started the race from pole position and with his IndyCar team mates, Simon Pagenaud and Juan Pablo Montoya in the Acura AX-05 DPi Oreca the trio had a fantastic event.
Juan Pablo Montoya, Helio Castroneves and 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud finished the race on the podium in third place.
Taking to Twitter following the race, Pagenaud commented by saying:
Speaking following the race, Juan Pablo Montoya said:
It was fun! I mean these races are frigging crazy.
The Colombian also said that he felt that they had the pace to finish the race in second place however he made a small mistake towards the end collecting one of the Lexus cars and damaged his wheel but recovered to bring the car home in third place.
Speaking to Team Penske following the race, Castroneves said:
It was a good day today, started on pole position, finished P3, all my team mates Juan Pablo and Simon did a phenomenal job we all worked well together.
