The end of the year is fast approaching and with that in mind here at Paddock Eye we thought we would look back at some of the big stories of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.
The first story we are going to delve into is the return to competitiveness for AJ Foyt Racing.
The team brought in a brand new line-up for 2023 with Santino Ferrucci making a full-time return to series driving the iconic No.14 Chevrolet.
Ferrucci was joined at the team by rookie Benjamin Pedersen who drove the No.55 Sexton Properties Chevrolet.
Qualifying for the 107th running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge was a huge success for the team.
Ferrucci in the No.14 Chevrolet started the Greatest Spectacle In Racing from the third row on the grid 9th place while Benjamin Pedersen made his Indianapolis 500 debut from 11th place.
In the race itself, Santino Ferrucci did a fantastic job coming through the field from ninth to finish the race in third place.
The podium was AJ Foyt Racing’s first podium since Tony Kanaan scored a third-place finish at Gateway.
Foyt’s resurgence was helped by the signing of former Chip Ganassi Racing engineer Michael Cannon who is heading up Foyt’s technical team.
AJ Foyt Racing recently announced that they have signed Sting Ray Robb to drive the No.41 Chevrolet full-time in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES in 2024 but have yet to announce who their second driver will be.
