Legendary Indianapolis 500 commentator Paul Page believes that Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves will win his fifth Indianapolis 500 title on Sunday. Speaking to Paddock Eye during Thursday’s Media Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Page said that he hopes to see Helio or Tony Kanaan win The Greatest Spectacle In Racing.
Speaking to Paddock Eye about how compact the series is this season regarding the competition. Page said that he believes the field is as diverse as he has ever seen it. Looking back at 2021 with Colton Herta, he can win this race. Go back even further than that; Page says he feels that Meyer Shank Racing’s Helio Castroneves can win a fifth 500 just because Page would love to see a five-time 500 winner in his lifetime. If he doesn’t do this year, then I will never see it says Page.
‘Tony Kanaan, for sentimental reasons, but Ferrucci will be hard to bet. When asked if he has been surprised by Team Penske’s struggles at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year, Page said:
I have been. You usually see Penske clearly and upfront, but we are not seeing that this year, but I never discount them. Indeed not of Will Power. He showed that every time he could move to the front last year and no longer goes for every opportunity he gets but is calculating, which helped him win his second championship last season.
Speaking of Will Power, Page said that. The Australian thinks well ahead into the race, which is necessary for a 500-mile race. Page said that he had noticed this season at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway that there have been several Honda engine failures with Colton Herta and had failures on new engines. Page hopes that the issue can be sorted out before Sunday’s race. Page suspects the problem could be that Honda Performance Development has a bad batch of engines, and Page is hoping and assuming it is fixable. Still, if not, it could be detrimental to a team like Chip Ganassi Racing.
Page believes we could see one of the fastest Indianapolis 500 races on record if the series can clear the cautions quickly.
