Meyer Shank Racing’s Simon Pagenaud in the No.60 AutoNation Sirius XM Honda was fastest in the opening practice session ahead of Sunday’s Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

The Frenchman set a fastest time of 01:07.1991s and ended the day just ahead of Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi in the No.27 NAPA Auto Parts AutoNation Honda with a 01:07.6012s.

Championship leader Scott McLaughlin was third fastest with a time of 01:07.6720s.

Josef Newgarden was fourth fastest with a time of 01:07.7282s just ahead of Marcus Ericsson and Colton Herta.

Alex Palou was seventh fastest just ahead of Will Power and Callum Ilott who was ninth just ahead of Kyle Kirkwood who rounded out the top ten for AJ Foyt Racing with a time of 01:08.0221s.

Six-time series champion Scott Dixon was 11th having gone off track and ended the session just ahead of Helio Castroneves and Graham Rahal.

Arrow McLaren SP’s Pato O’Ward and Felix Rosenqvist were 14th and 15th respectively.

David Malukas and Jack Harvey were 16th and 17th respectively just ahead of Dalton Kellett and Conor Daly.

Rinus VeeKay rounded out the top 20 just ahead of Christian Lundgaard and Romain Grosjean.

Devlin DeFrancesco was 23rd just ahead of Takuma Sato. Jimmie Johnson and Tatiana Calderon rounded out the order.
