Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud, the 2016 Verizon IndyCar Series champion has endured a tough 2018 campaign to date, however that all changed when he scored his first podium of the season last weekend under the lights in the DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway where he finished runner up to Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon.

The Frenchman is currently in eighth place in the series standings on 229 points, 128 behind leader Scott Dixon ahead of the next race, the Kohler Grand Prix at Road America.

Speaking following the race on Saturday, Pagenaud commented by saying:

“It was a pretty fast-paced race, quite physical. “I was just trying to manage the (car) balance. It was quite fun, actually. We had to keep up with the tires, keep up with the balance of the car throughout the stints and also relay to the pit what you needed for the next one.

Speaking about his battle with Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, Pagenaud commented by saying:

“It was fun. I had a lot of good battles, especially with Alexander (Rossi) at the end. Gave me some gray hair, the last 30 laps. But we managed to hold him off.”
