Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud will be celebrated in Indianapolis on Tuesday as fans gather to celebrate the end of a fantastic 2016 season.
Pagenaud who drives for Team Penske won the Verizon IndyCar Series championship in the season finale GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma two weeks ago and Tuesday will mark that achievement with celebrations throughout the day culminating in the presentation of Astor Challenge Cup at an event in Downtown Indianapolis on Tuesday evening.
Monument Circle in the centre of Indianapolis will be a hive of Verizon IndyCar Series activity throughout the day with team transporters on display from 11:30am as will Simon Pagenaud’s No.22 Chevrolet and Alexander Rossi’s Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil winning No.98 NAPA Auto Parts Honda, the Astor Challenge Cup will also be on display throughout the day.
Simon Pagenaud will be presented with the Astor Challenge Cup along with the $1 million winners cheque at the championship at 6:45PM following a reception at the Hilbert Circle Theatre which gets underway at 5:30PM.
Indianapolis Power and Lighting will illuminate their 10th story lights display with Pagenaud’s number at dusk on Tuesday.
