Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda became INDYCAR’s first back-to-back champion since Dario Franchitti in 2011 to claim the honor.

Palou started Sunday’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix from 24th and came home in 11th as his main rival for the championship Will Power was out of the running early due to a seat belt issue.

Speaking following the race, three-time series champion Alex Palou said:

“I have to thank everybody working on the No. 10 car, everybody at CGR back at the shop, and all of my teammates, DHL, American Legion, PNC Bank, and all of our partners. I’m super proud about it. It’s been an amazing year and I’m happy we’ve got the championship back home.”

It was a special moment for Palou’s race engineer Barry Wanser who was on hand to join in the celebration this year.

Team owner Chip Ganassi said:

The guy never broke a sweat. It’s unbelievable the way he drives. The way he came into our team a few years ago down in Alabama — he won his first race out and it’s been smooth sailing since… The No. 10 team likes winning, that certainly helps.”
