The NTT INDYCAR SERIES heads to Portland International Raceway this weekend for the BitNile.com Portland Grand Prix, the final road course of the 2024 season.
Portland marks the start of quick turnaround for the series with four races in less than a month.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Honda has been in command of the championship for most of the season and holds a 59 point advantage over second-placed Colton Herta while Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Chip Ganassi Racing Honda is 65 points behind Palou.
Palou has been extremely consistent in 2024 and is on target to become the first back-to-back championship winner since Chip Ganassi Racing driver advisor Dario Franchitti completed a hat-trick of championships for Chip Ganassi Racing from 2009 to 2011.
Palou goes into this weekend as the defending race winner from 2023.
The one driver who may have an advantage over the others when it comes to fighting Palou for the championship is Scott Dixon, although the Iceman may be 65 points behind Palou he has access to his data and Dixon is of course a six-time series champion.
It is a case of we will have to wait and see what happens in the final four races, last year, Palou won the championship with a race to go, however this is unlikely to happen this year but you never know what will happen as this is INDYCAR when anything can happen.
