Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in the No.10 The American Legion Honda has an 84-point lead in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship as the series heads to the IMS road course this weekend for the Gallagher Grand Prix.
The Spaniard scored his eighth podium finish of the season in Sunday’s Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on the streets of Nashville where he finished in third place, speaking following the race he commented saying:
“We had the speed today. We expected more yellows, but we survived and made it work. We were saving a ton of fuel throughout the whole race and it was a tough race. We’re on the podium and I couldn’t be happier for the American Legion team.”
Palou can win the championship if he scores a top-ten finish in each of the final four races this season starting this weekend. The Spaniard went on to say:
It was improbable after the call we did on that first yellow. Honestly, we talked about it before the race. We expected more yellows, and it was not the right call. But hey, we survived, we made it work. It was a tough race, but we made the podium and couldn’t be happier now.”
