Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda is in the driving seat to retain his NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship as he heads to the season-ending Big Machine Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Super Speedway 33 points ahead of Will Power.

Palou suffered a mechanical issue at thw start of Sunday’s race 2 of the Milwaukee Mile double-header, the Hy-Vee 250.

The Spaniard has been extremely consistent during the 2024 season despite only winning two races this year.

Speaking following the action, Palou who ended the race in 19th, 29 laps down commented saying:

We couldn’t really do anything. “We tried everything to try and not lose many laps.”

Palou is on course to become the first driver since Dario Franchitti did it in 2011, the four-time series champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 winner is still involved in the sport as a driver coach with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Palou went on to say:

We’re a bit sad and disappointed. We had no power. Then we thought we had it fixed, but it stopped again. The problem we had was not in my control, or the team or HRC. It’s a sport. It is what it is. We changed the battery and then we could get back out. Once we got going, we were happier. We were getting points: one more point, one more point, and so on. So, not a great day, but could’ve been a lot worse.”

In 16 starts this season, Palou has 13 top-ten finishes.
