McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown has confirmed that 2023 NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou must travel to the Singapore Grand Prix next weekend to fulfill his team’s test and reserve driver duties.

Speaking to the media at Laguna Seca ahead of today’s season-ending Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, Brown said that while he doesn’t expect Palou to travel to Singapore, the Spaniard is obliged to do so as he is contracted to McLaren.

McLaren Racing is suing Palou for reneging on his contract to race for Arrow McLaren in 2024, a deal agreed upon in 2022, and while they are not looking for him to race for the team next season, they are looking to recoup advanced payments made to Palou.

The Spaniard starts today’s 95-lap Firestone Grand Prix of Monterey at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca from 6th place.
