NTT INDYCAR SERIES championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda is on track to wrap up the title early.
The Spaniard claimed his sixth win from nine races and heads to Mid-Ohio next weekend with a 93 point lead in the championship over Andretti Global’s Kyle Kirkwood.
The last driver to win both the Indianapolis 500 and INDYCAR championship in the same year was Dario Franchitti in 2010 driving the No.10 Target Chip Ganassi Racing car.
Palou’s teammate, Scott Dixon, driver of the No.9 PNC Bank Honda is fifth in the championship, 155 points behind Palou and has all but given up on winning a seventh series title in 2025.
Dixon said after Road America that he is focused on scoring victories for the remainder of the season.
Palou can win his third championship in a row by Portland if not earlier such is his points advantage.
