Chip Ganassi Racing’s had a solid start to their Big Machine Music City Grand Prix on the streets of Nashville after championship leader Alex Palou in the No.10 The American Legion Honda set the second fastest time of the day. Speaking following the action, the Spaniard who set a time of 01:16.9464s and speaking following the action he said:

“Practice 1 was pretty good. It was really warm with lots of humidity, but the No. 10 American Legion is fast. It was a really quick session and we’ll try to regroup now. We finished P2, so we’ll talk to all the drivers and see how we can improve tomorrow. The team is off to a good start.”

Scott Dixon in the No.9 PNC Bank Honda ended the day in tenth place and speaking after the action, the Iceman who goes into Sunday’s race as the defending race winner commented sayig:

t was an interesting session out there. We made some good changes. I think if we had gotten a run on the green tires it would have been really fast, but the PNC Bank Honda felt good. The first run was compromised, but I think we have a competitive car for the weekend, so we’ll need to see how it plays out.”

Marcus Armstrong in the No.11 Ridgeline Lubricants Honda had a holiday in 12th place and speaking following the action he commented saying:

“First practice done here in Nashville and this is a pretty awesome track, I must say. It’s probably one of my favorites. We had a good pace and the car was pretty good. We just missed out at getting our lap in on the greens but I think we would have been P2 potentially. We need to continue things tomorrow and Sunday.”

Marcus Ericsson who won the inaugural race here in 2021 struggled on Friday ending the day in 25th place with a time of 01:18.9303s and speaking following the action he commented saying:

“First practice done here in Nashville and this is a pretty awesome track, I must say. It’s probably one of my favorites. We had a good pace and the car was pretty good. We just missed out at getting our lap in on the greens but I think we would have been P2 potentially. We need to continue things tomorrow and Sunday.”
