Sonsio Grand Prix of Indianapolis race winner Alex Palou in the No.10 DHL Chip Ganassi Racing Honda says that the Indianapolis 500, which takes place exactly two weeks from today (Sunday), is:
Something very different to the normal races, we need to take it one day at a time.
Speaking to Paddock Eye after winning the race on Saturday, Palou said that every day is like a race for the team. They need to keep improving their cars, be comfortable, get faster, and try to get the best they can every day.
Palou told us here at Paddock Eye that he is not sure what it will take to win the Indianapolis 500, but he is sure it will take a lot. The Spaniard says that the person who wins the 500 has to have a perfect day. Speaking about having three-time Indianapolis 500 winner Dario Franchitti involved with the team, Palou said it is enormous as you rely on fast drivers at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and on champions.
Dario helps us not only at the 500 but at every race. He oversees all of the drivers. He looks at all of the videos. He usually tells us after the session what he can see, which is a lot, especially at the 500. The timing of overtakes, defending moves, and overtaking spots greatly help the team.
