Chip Ganassi Racing’s Alex Palou in the No.10 SEGI.TV Honda showed incredible majority and skill during Sunday’s 2021 NTT IndyCar Series season-opening Honda Indy Grand Prix of Alabama at Barber Motorsports Park to take his maiden win in the series and Ganassi’s first at Barber Motorsports Park and in doing so the Spaniard has shown that he has what it takes to challenge for the championship this year.
Starting the race from third on the grid, Palou enjoyed battles with both Pato O’Ward and Will Power and held his nerve to claim his first win.
Speaking following the race, Palou said:
We did it!. “It’s amazing. All of the team did an amazing job. We had the best cars. We’re starting strong, and we’ll keep it strong.”
The result just goes to show how talented Alex Palou is and speaking during the post-race media conference call he said that he has been like a sponge during the off-season speaking with his teammate and six-time series champion Scott Dixon who finished Sunday’s race in third place.
The win was also great for team owner Dale Coyne who brought Palou to IndyCar last season from the Formula Nippon series in Japan along with Team Goh and this really gave the Spaniard a platform on which to showcase his talent which garnered the attention of Chip Ganassi who tweeted after the race saying:
