Defending NTT INDYCAR SERIES champion Alex Palou in the No.10 Ridgeline Lubricants DHL Honda says that it was an amazing weekend at The Thermal Club. The Spaniard started the $1 million INDYCAR SERIES Challenge from pole position and dominated the 20 lap event to claim the $500,000 prize.

Speaking following the action he said:

What an amazing weekend. Right from the start, we had all the speed we needed from our Honda engine and Chip Ganassi Racing car. The race format was obviously different to our regular championship, so we weren’t sure how [the strategy of] saving tires was going to play out in the final, But with no restarts at the end, everything was amazing!”

Palou who had been fast all weekend went on to say:

“The car was amazing. “I was a bit surprised how the competitors did the first 10 laps, saving tires. I was like: ‘All right, that’s our game. I like it.’ Super proud of the 10 car and everyone at Chip Ganassi Racing.”

Asked about what he will do with the money he received for the win, Palou, who became a father for the first time over the winter said:

“I need to buy a lot of diapers. “I’ll probably do that and probably do some small party with the boys (Ganassi crew).”
